All the existing FSSAI Licenses are to be migrated as per the new compliance system. FoSCoS is similar to the previous system allowing users to migrate easily.

The key features of the selection based approach for Standardised Products while applying for the FSSAI License are as below:

  1. At present, the applicant types the name of the food product he intends to manufacture in the text box provided, FoSCoS replaces the text box approach by letting the manufacturer select a standardized product only out of the list provided on the FoSCoS platform.

  2. The standardized product will be classified as per the food category system indicated for convenience.

  3. In case, not falling under the standardized product, the text box approach will continue.

  4. For other than the manufacturers, such as catering (food services), transporter, wholesaler, storage, e-Commerce, etc will continue to be based on broad food product categories.

  5. Category 99 is a category for products such as additives/processing aids/enzymes etc. It is proposed to continue the text box approach. In the future, this category may also be considered to be moved to the Standardised list approach.
